Thanks for choosing The Detailing Specialists for your detailing requirements. Every client of The Detailing Specialists must read and acknowledge our standard terms and conditions prior to the commencement of your detailing work.
This forms a legal agreement between The Excellence Group Limited (Formerly The Detailing Specialists Limited) and you; the customer. If you require clarification on any points below please contact a member of our team on 03 925 7874 or hello@detailing.co.nz.
The customer in this document shall mean the purchaser of goods and services from The Excellence Group Limited (Formerly The Detailing Specialists Limited) or any person acting on behalf of and with the authority of the customer.
1) Terms of Service
The Detailing Specialists will provide a quotation to you via email or sms prior to your booking and will confirm this at the vehicle drop-off. If you have extra/special requests please let us know at the time the booking is confirmed. We reserve the right to adjust your package and pricing; strictly with your approval either verbal or via written communications, if we deem that the original quotation/service offering is not fit for purpose upon commencement or as we proceed with the work. Job time frames advised are also subject to change upon commencement, and we will advise you of suitable completion times with as much accuracy as possible.
The Detailing Specialists performs a wide range of services that carry some degree of risk to your vehicle. We undertake all work with the highest level of care possible, and will always endeavour to minimise risk. You acknowledge that The Detailing Specialists will not be held liable for any damages or losses incurred during or because of our services. You acknowledge that any damage or loss caused to your vehicle during the provision of our services is the responsibility of your insurance provider. As an additional clause to our terms and conditions policy, The Detailing Specialists will not be held liable for any damages, including but not limited to scratches, dents, or paint damage, that may occur to your vehicle during the provision of our services. We take all reasonable precautions to prevent any damage from occurring, but ultimately, the condition and age of your vehicle, as well as any pre-existing damage, may affect the outcome of our services. It is your responsibility to ensure that your vehicle is in good condition and free of any pre-existing damage before the provision of our services.
The Detailing Specialists takes pride in our workmanship and ensures that only trained employees with relevant experience will work on your vehicle. We use the highest quality tools and products to give you confidence that your vehicle is in the safest hands to achieve a quality result by our team.
In the unlikely event of damage or loss to your vehicle while in our care we will notify you as soon as possible to discuss the next steps via email or phone.
2) Pre-Existing Damage
It is difficult to find pre-existing damages during the initial vehicle inspection. Some vehicles may have interior components that are broken, scratched, worn out, faded, don’t work, or have become loose and damaged that you may not know about. Some vehicles may have interior trims that are heavily soiled/dirty; which can hide wear or existing damage that you are unaware of. If a member of the The Detailing Specialists team discovers any items that are not working properly, worn, scratched, cracked, faded, or broken we will bring it to your attention. You agree not to hold The Detailing Specialists responsible for any pre-existing damages to your car.
Dirt can hide swirl marks, scratches, dents, paint chips, fine lines, and marks. If a member of the The Detailing Specialists team finds any exterior imperfections we will bring it to your attention. The Detailing Specialists will not be responsible for correcting these pre-existing paint imperfections if your service does not include them. Also, during the course of paint correction or general detailing of the exterior, other paint defects may become evident and we will not be responsible for these pre-existing paint imperfections. The Detailing Specialists will not be held responsible should we find pre-existing paint imperfections during our normal course of detailing that you were not aware of.
3) Security
The Detailing Specialists takes security seriously and we have implemented strict controls over our workshop and storage of vehicles for your peace of mind. In the unlikely event of a breach of our security; you acknowledge that any theft or loss of your vehicle while in our care is the responsibility of you or your insurance provider.
4) Vehicle Battery
Your doors, tailgate, boot, and bonnet may be open for extended periods and may cause battery discharge. You authorize The Detailing Specialists to utilize either a battery charger or disconnect the battery to ensure battery charge. You acknowledge that if your battery is in poor health there is a risk that your vehicle may not start and require a new battery, and you acknowledge The Detailing Specialists is not responsible for this. If your vehicle requires the battery to be jump-started or connected to a booster battery you acknowledge there is a risk in doing so and if you do not want The Detailing Specialists to jump-start or boost your battery in the event of it going dead you must inform a team member prior to the booking commencement in writing and provide an alternative option for the moving of your vehicle while in the care of The Detailing Specialists.
5) Child Seats
Due to child safety and liability reasons, if we need to remove child car seats under any circumstances we will not re-fit them. We request that our clients remove car seats and booster seats prior to the booking. Should the car seat be left in the vehicle we will remove the seat and leave it loose in the vehicle and inform the customer upon collection. You acknowledge The Detailing Specialists does not take responsibility for the correct affixing and safety of car seats and booster seats after detailing services are completed.
6) Personal Property
You acknowledge that The Detailing Specialists is not responsible for any personal items left in your vehicle while in our care. We recommend you remove personal items prior to your booking. You allow The Detailing Specialists to move or remove personal property when required in order to complete the detailing work.
7) Engine Bay Cleaning
The Detailing Specialists will complete engine bay cleaning using a variety of methods and chemicals; including (but not limited to) degreasers, pressure washers, other chemicals, and brushes. You acknowledge that engine bay and engine cleaning could lead to certain mechanical issues related to the car such as poor performance, electrical problems, strange noises, or flooding. Pre-existing damage, engine faults, or electrical faults (whether previously diagnosed or not) could be made worse with the use of water and chemicals in the engine compartment. The Detailing Specialists will not be responsible for any damage caused by the expressed risks associated with the engine bay or engine cleaning.
8) Accessories
Some accessories may hinder or block The Detailing Specialists from detailing all areas of your vehicle. This includes, but is not limited to; roof racks, nudge bars, snorkels, external storage boxes, aftermarket trims, wheel accessories, 4wd accessories, and bike racks. We request that you remove any accessories that may hinder our detailing work prior to the booking or provides us with the tools, keys, or methods necessary to remove; and acknowledge the risk involved in the removal. The Detailing Specialists will not be responsible for any damage caused to your vehicle or accessories on your vehicle due to the removal of accessories by our team.
9) Photo/Video Rights
The Detailing Specialists may capture photos or videos of your vehicle before, during, and after the service is performed. Photos and videos are used internally for inspection purposes and externally for marketing purposes. We will not identify our clients and where possible will block out number plates. If you do not want photos or videos of your vehicle used for marketing purposes please inform us prior to the booking commencement. You acknowledge The Detailing Specialists will securely store inspection photos of your vehicle for a minimum of 12 months from your booking as proof of condition. If photos or videos have been uploaded to the internet for marketing purposes and you would like them removed at a later date we are happy to oblige.
10) Payment
You understand that payment is due upon completion of the work on my vehicle. The Detailing Specialists accepts cash, Visa, Mastercard, Afterpay, or bank transfer with prior approval. The Detailing Specialists reserves the right to withhold the release of vehicles until payment has been made. You understand that if you cannot pick up the vehicle upon completion; The Detailing Specialists reserves the right to send you an invoice for same-day payment prior to a suitable pick-up date/time. You acknowledge that The Detailing Specialists can charge interest on unpaid invoices that are 7 days or more overdue and can incur any and all collections cost for unpaid bills.
11) Cancellations & Rescheduling
You must give at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule your booking. The Detailing Specialists requires notice to be given via email or phone. In the event a cancellation or reschedule request is given within 24 hours of my booking you understand The Detailing Specialists may charge me a cancellation fee of 50% of my booking.
12) Collection & Storage
The Detailing Specialists has limited workshop space to store your vehicle; therefore you must acknowledge that we request you to collect your vehicle as promptly as possible upon completion. You acknowledge that where possible The Detailing Specialists will be flexible with your collection time; however, there may be storage fees added to your booking if the vehicle is left for longer than 2 working days from notification of completion. The Detailing Specialists will inform you of storage charges over written communication prior to them being added to your bill. You acknowledge that due to environmental challenges being an active workshop; my vehicle may not stay in pristine condition if left for an extended period of time. You acknowledge that vehicles will always be stored within the grounds of The Detailing Specialists; however, we cannot guarantee vehicles will be stored inside due to space constraints.
In the situation of an after-hours/unmanned pick up or drop off of your vehicle – you acknowledge The Detailing Specialists are not liable for insurance against theft of your vehicle if left on our grounds. We will always leave keys in a secure lockbox with limited access; however you must ensure your vehicle insurance is current and limits liability of theft.
13) Service Time
Our expected service times are only an estimate. Your vehicle may take more or less time to complete than agreed upon.
14) General Insurance
The Detailing Specialists holds public liability insurance to cover us in the unlikely event of an issue where we are liable for a resolution. Where an issue occurs that is not with negligence from our team you acknowledge your vehicle is insured while at our premises through your own insurance provider. We recommend you contact your insurance company to let them know where and how your vehicle is stored while in our care.
15) Driving Vehicles
If The Detailing Specialists needs to move your vehicle on-site or externally you give us permission to do so unrestricted. While on-site we will need to move your vehicle both inside and outside to complete our service and will do with care. You acknowledge that you have insurance and your insurance covers all drivers at The Detailing Specialists to move your vehicle. All team members at The Detailing Specialists are required to have the correct NZ Drivers License type to move your vehicle; however, not all drivers can be guaranteed a certain age; therefore you acknowledge your insurance covers drivers of all ages who hold the correct drivers license.
The Detailing Specialists may need to take your vehicle off-site for external work such as, but not limited to; paint protection film installation, paint repair and panel repainting, wheel refurbishment, installation of aftermarket accessories, or for pick ups and drop offs when requested. If your vehicle must be moved outside of our grounds we will let you know over email. You acknowledge and consent us to move your vehicle when required and without restriction. You acknowledge The Detailing Specialists does not need to ask for permission first if services must be undertaken off-site; but does need to inform you, the customer; in writing when this occurs. You acknowledge that your vehicle has full insurance for driving on NZ roads and meets all required safety standards by law.
16) Workshop Health & Safety
Our workshop has many hazards. You acknowledge that The Detailing Specialists is not liable for your safety when entering our workshop. You acknowledge hazards are present and you must obey any instructions by our team while on-site as we are an active workshop.
